What does a Landscape Inspector do?
On a daily basis our members are responsible for:
- Inspecting and approving landscape installations
- Managing and recommending landscape ordinances
- Reviewing landscape and development site plans
- Insuring proper tree care through enforcement of landscape ordinances
- Plant material is in compliance with Florida Department of Plant Industries’ Grades and Standards
How do Landscape Inspectors Help the Community and the Landscape Industry?

- Public Education
- Municipal and County Commission expert testimony
- Continuing Education for Professionals
- Conduct an Annual Certification Review and Examination to become a Certified Landscape Inspector
- Seminars
- Sponsors an Annual seminar bringing together the experts of the Landscape and Tree Care Industry

Eligibility:

The applicant must have a minimum five years practical experience in the landscape industry OR the applicant must have two years of practical landscape experience plus a college degree in a related field.
Acceptable practical experience includes: working in the landscape industry where knowledge of plan review, landscape installation, landscape maintenance, irrigation, plant identification, insect identification and tree pruning.
A resume and/or curriculum vitae included with your application are required documentation. Your application cannot be accepted without appropriate and verifiable proof of eligibility.
